Worked great for my needs

Needed to turn some URLs into PDFs for a client report, so I gave Pdflayer a try. Signed up for one of their plans, and it was super easy to integrate. The license key landed in my inbox within a minute. Used their Node.js SDK and it just worked. No fuss, no drama. PDFs looked good too. Pretty happy with it.

Decent conversion, a few quirks

Got the Professional API Plan to convert some HTML docs. The conversion quality for high-resolution rendering was mostly good, but sometimes JavaScript execution in the PDF didn't quite render as I expected, leading to some blank spaces. Support was responsive, but it took a bit to figure out the specific issue. It's a solid tool, but not always perfect out of the box for every edge case.

Good API, quick setup

I was looking for a reliable way to convert raw HTML into PDFs for a new project. I picked up the Professional API Plan after testing out the free tier for a bit. Setting up the API was pretty straightforward using their PHP SDK, and the documentation was clear enough to get me going without much hassle. I did have a small question about custom CSS not applying correctly at first, so I shot a message to support. They got back to me within a few hours with a helpful suggestion that fixed it right up. Conversions have been fast and the quality of the PDFs is consistently good, even with some complex layouts I threw at it. I've been generating multi-page PDFs with custom headers, and it's all worked as expected. It's definitely saved me a lot of time compared to building something custom.

Easy to use API

I used the HTML to PDF API to convert some generated content. It was really simple to get started. The API documentation was clear. My PDFs came out looking just like the web pages. Very smooth process.

Does anyone know if Pdflayer is good for really high-volume stuff? Like, hundreds of thousands of PDFs a day potentially.

A Amanda White 3 days ago
We've been using it for a while for a few thousand daily, seems to handle it fine. Never had an outage.

For really high volume, you'd probably want to talk to their sales team about an Enterprise plan. They usually tailor those for big needs. I've heard they're pretty robust.

Hey guys, thinking about signing up for Pdflayer. Just wondering if anyone's had issues with their free plan. Like, how many conversions can you actually do before it cuts you off?

M Megan P. 2 weeks ago
I used the free tier for a bit, it's pretty good for testing. I think it's like 100 conversions a month. Enough to get a feel for it.

D Daniel Miller 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it's 100 conversions. They clearly state it on their pricing page. If you go over, it just stops working until the next month, no surprise charges or anything.

Is it easy to cancel a subscription if I decide it's not for me? Don't want to get locked into anything.

A Anthony F. 1 week ago
Super easy. Just go into your account settings and there's a cancel button. No hoops to jump through.

Yeah, it's straightforward. I canceled my free trial once, no issues at all. No annoying phone calls or anything.

Does Pdflayer offer any discounts for startups? We're a small team trying to keep costs down but need a reliable PDF API.

J Jason Smith 2 weeks ago
I think they do, yes. I remember seeing something about startup discounts on their site or hearing about it. Worth reaching out to them directly.

Thinking of switching from DocRaptor to Pdflayer. Anyone have experience comparing the two? Is Pdflayer's quality as good, especially for complex layouts?

K Karen Flores 2 weeks ago
I made the switch last year. Pdflayer's output quality is honestly comparable, sometimes even better for our specific use case with a lot of custom CSS. Plus, it felt a bit faster.

DocRaptor used to be my go-to but Pdflayer handles JavaScript execution better in the PDFs for us. Give their free plan a try to compare directly with your own content.

Hey, I'm working with Python. Does Pdflayer have a good SDK for it, or will I have to roll my own API calls?

M Michael W. 3 weeks ago
They have an official Python SDK, it's pretty well-documented and easy to use. I've been using it for months.

D Deborah W. 2 weeks ago
Yes, python SDK is solid. Makes integration really simple.

Are there ever any promo codes floating around for Pdflayer? Looking at the Pro plan but trying to save a few bucks.

M Mark T. 3 weeks ago
They usually do an annual discount if you pay for a year upfront, saves about 15-20%.

Coupons are pretty rare, usually only for new sign-ups or if you get one through a partner. Keep an eye out around Black Friday though, they sometimes have sales then.
